RIVER EBRO HOMES

Fiestas and Events

To really feel the true character of this part of Rural Spain, the Local Fiestas are not to be missed.  To be sure to catch some of the fun, book July and August when the Spanish people are in holiday mood, and something is sure to be happening in one village or another.

Fiesta Major Mora D´Ebre
The End of August is always the date for our FIESTA MAJOR:  A full week of  events, shows and dancing. The shops are closed,  the people have time off work, and everyone is in party mood.    For our 2006 fiesta he boat was once again well and truly pushed out   There was music and dancing to suit all ages from teenagers to pensioners. The 4 x 4 team put on their usual excellent display, and the “muleta” rowing boats from surrounding towns came and raced against the Mora D´Ebre teams  We had attractions to suit all tastes, from foam and waterpistol fights to traditional parades of giants and a special exhibition by the “Barcelona Falcons”, at gymnastic team that build human towers, a skill peculiar to Catalunya. And of course who can forget the two huge fireworks dispays that astound and
dazzle us a bit more every year.   This is the week when you can really join in the Spanish way of life, as long as you don’t expect to get to bed before 3am

But don’t worry if you miss ours. There is a fiesta happening in all the local villages during July and August!

Fiesta de St Antoni, Mora La Nova
February

This is a very picturesque fiesta involving horses, ponies and donkeys from all the surrounding villages, dressed up in their full regalia and pulling the most beautiful traditional carts and wagons.  Spectators look on while the horses make a full tour around the town, arriving finally in front of the church to be blessed by the local Priest. There is generally a few stalls selling local produce, and later in the day, eating, drinking and general merriment as always!
